Especially on Kastanienallee you’ll find many designers from Berlin. Their shops bear names like “Eisdieler,” “Eastberlin” or “Thatchers – the shop.”On Schönhauser Allee and Oderberger Straße, 30 Berlin designer labels have their flagship stores. And even traditional stores like “Jünemanns Pantoffeleck” (Jünemann’s Slipper Corner) now offer modern designer slippers. There are also lots of hip second-hand shops in the neighborhood – dealing not just in clothes, but also in vinyl records and CDs.
Many stores in this part of Berlin do not open before noon. The “Prenzlberg,” as the Berliners call Prenzlauer Berg, is not only an “in”-scene location during the night, but then as well – which is why people tend to sleep a little longer here.
