Mainova, one of Germany´s largest regional power suppliers, is the chief provider of electricity, natural gas, water and district heating in Frankfurt. There are no alternative suppliers to Mainova for water and district heating. However, you can obtain electricity and natural gas from various other companies. Many public utilities such as SüWag AG, headquartered in Frankfurt-Höchst and E Wie Einfach Strom & Gas GmbH, now provide one-stop shopping for electricity and gas.

Depending on how many kWh per year you consume, eprimo or Yello Strom can be inexpensive alternatives to regional Frankfurter providers. Other national providers appeal to consumers´environmental awareness rather than their desire to save money. Greenpeace Energy and Lichtblick, for example, advertise that they provide 100 percent environmentally friendly electricity. Mainova remainds the largest and most important supplier of power in the area with about 460,000 electricity, natural gas, heating and water customers in Frankfurt and the Rhein-Main region.

Novanatur offers environmentally friendly and reasonably priced electricity from 100 percent renewable energy sources without the added costs that come with the Mainova Strom Classic tariff. Mainova is also the main supplier of natural gas for heating and cooking in Frankfurt households. The environmentally friendly energy is distributed throughout the region using a pipeline network over with a length of over 4,300 km. You can choose from four rates that are individually tailored for customers: Mainova Direkt, Smart, Extra, Classic and KlimaPlus. Mainova also supplies natural gas to people who drive in Frankfurt´s road network. The Rhein-Main area has one of the densest natural gas station networks in Germany.
